"Another bad day. Some more of these and, well I don't even want to think about it..."
Four hours to sunrise, and survival was proving difficult for the fox. Exhaustion had taken its toll, his stomach uttering the kind of growl that can only come from not having eaten in days. Yet all he could do was ignore his unhealthy state, pressing forward and seeking any opportunity he could find. Not that he had found any recently, or perhaps he had become blind to his chances at this point? Just as likely. And yet, over the horizon there appeared one more. Tall buildings, streetlights, road signs. For the first time in days, he'd found what looked like a proper city, and so without hesitation he'd head in that direction.
After about a half hour, he'd pass another sign. "Station Square, city limits". It'd seem he'd arrive, but not pleasantly. The past few miles had to had been taken slowly, the vehicle's fuel tank was almost as empty as his own. Regardless he entered the slumbering city with a weak smile, looking around and studying the locale as much as his tired mind could. The state of study was short lived as the car began to creak and sputter, fuel tank almost empty. Out of energy and out of options, he had no choice but to drive it into an alleyway, nestled in the shadows of a pair of crowded buildings. He wouldn't be a bother here, he hoped.
"This should be a decent enough place," he thought to himself as he dug a thin blanket out from under the passenger seat. "I'll get a nap in, check the place out when I wake up. Maybe there'll be a use for me here somewhere.."
And thus, the nomad was out cold in the driver's seat of the machine he drove. Whether or not he'd find an opportunity in this city to use his skills in a way that allowed him the chance to alleviate his empty stomach, or to rest in a real bed for even a day wasn't clear at this point. However, he'd be undeterred. He'd spent the past few months living this way, and enough was enough. Come sunrise, it was time for a new beginning.
I know, it sucks. I'm so sorry.
